India retains 3rd spot in ICC Test rankings

India has retained its third position in the latest ICC Test rankings after South Africa and England. Proteans have 135 points followed by England and India with 116 points each.

But England has decimal rating point advantage bringing at number two. Pakistan has moved to fourth place after its win against South Africa in the first cricket test at Abu Dhabi.

Only two Indians, opener Cheteshwar Pujara along with the off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin figure among the top ten. Pujara is place at number eight. South Africa’s Hashim Amla is top batsman followed by fellow countryman A.B.Devilliers and Caribbean Shiv Narain Chanderpaul.

 


Protean paceman Dale Steyn leads the pack of bowlers followed by another speedster Vernon Philander.

Ravichandran Ashwin is at number eight. Among the Allrounders, Bangladesh’s Saqib ul Hassan is number one while India’s Ravichandran Ashwin figures remains at number three.

A lot depends upon ongoing Pakistan-South Africa test series in UAE. If the series ends in a 1-1 draw, South Africa will finish on 131 points down four points while Pakistan will end on 102 up five points and one point ahead of the Australia.

If Pakistan wins the Dubai Test, then South Africa will slip to 125 ratings points nine points ahead of England and India while Pakistan will end up on 108 ratings points seven points ahead of Australia.
