‘More recoveries than fresh cases’: Decrease in spread of Covid is result of positive response of public to curbs, says CM Vijayan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that although the spread of the disease in Kerala is declining, it has not reached a comfortable level. “It is reassuring that the number of people recovering daily is greater than the number of people getting sick. The reduction in the spread of the disease is a result of the positive response of the general public to the curbs. However, there cannot be any lapse in the vigil against the spread of the disease”, the CM said.

“There has been no decrease in the number of people being treated in the hospital. The current congestion in ICU beds and ventilators is expected to last for a few more days. So it is imperative that hospitals are not overcrowded. No one should be negligent in assuming that they have received the vaccine. Do not buy substandard pulse oximeters. The list of best companies will be released in this regard”, the CM said.

The CM also said that 30 to half percent of the staff should come to the secretariat this month. “Priority will be given to Civil Supplies and Supplyco employees working in the field. Shops selling fertilizers and pesticides can be opened one day a week. The Technical University will conduct the final semester examination online. The university exam may be held from June 15. A meeting of department secretaries was convened”, he added.

“Delays in processing files should be avoided. The new method of file deletion and file resolution is required. The Chief Secretary should oversee this. The government will not protect you if you show corruption. PSC will check whether retirement vacancies have been reported”, the CM said. The Chief Minister said that what was said in the manifesto will be given priority and implemented. He also congratulations those who helped save 8 lives in Vizhinjam.
