COVID: Quarantine, isolation guidelines revised in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: The health department has revised the guidelines for Covid-19 quarantine and isolation in the state. Those who test positive for Covid-19 through lab checkup will be given treatment as per doctor’s instruction. Once the patients are discharged as per the rules, they should avoid travelling and social interaction for 7 days.

High Risk Primary Contact

The people in this category are the primary contact of the Covid patient and have high chances of getting infected.

14-day room quarantine at house or institution.

In case of symptoms, contact health workers or Disha 1056.

If there are no symptoms, conduct RT-PCR test on the 8th day. Even if they test negative, continue quarantine for 7 more days.

Low Risk Primary Contact

The people in this category are the primary contact of the Covid patient but have low chances of getting infected.

Avoid unnecessary travelling for 14 days.

Strictly follow Covid protocols like wearing mask, washing hands, keeping hygiene while coughing and sneezing etc.

Avoid social interaction such as wedding, functions, work, visiting places etc.

In case of symptoms, contact health workers or Disha 1056.

Asymptomatic Secondary Contacts

The people in this category have contact with those who came from places where community transmission of Covid occurred, and have no symptoms.

Follow Covid preventive protocols.

In case of symptoms, contact health workers or Disha 1056.

International travellers coming to Kerala

People coming from foreign countries to Kerala should conduct RT-PCR test as per central government’s direction and enter self-isolation at their houses.

They should seek treatment as per the test result. If they test negative, wait for 7 days to check for symptoms.

Inter-state travellers including those who come for business purposes

Register in E-Jagratha portal.

Produce RT-PCR negative result conducted within 48 hours.

Those who did not conduct RT-PCR test should undergo the test as soon as reaching Kerala and stay in room quarantine until the results are received.

If result is negative, follow Covid protocols like wearing mask, washing hands and maintaining social distance.

If they are not willing to conduct RT-PCR test, stay in room quarantine for 14 days.

In case of symptoms, contact health workers or Disha 1056 and undergo RT-PCR test.

Strictly follow Covid preventive protocols.
