CBI takes over Walayar case; charges of rape included in FIR

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation into the mysterious death of two minor sisters in Walayar. CBI Thiruvananthapuram unit will be carrying out the probe. Two FIRs also were registered in the POCSO court in Palakkad.

The cases related to the deaths of both girls were registered as separate FIRs. Charges of rape and other offences were inccluded in the FIR. Also, the CBI, submitted in the court, the report of the Crime Branch investigation conducted earlier.

The CBI took over the probe into Walayar case following the directive of the high court. The court had directed the CBI to take over the case immediately. It also asked the government to hand over the case diary and other documents related to the case to the CBI.
