No one can damage KIIFB; central agencies shouldn’t misuse power, says CM

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday asserted that no one can cause any damage to Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) as the institution is functioning adhering to all rules and laws.

“If the Centre had ought to humiliate KIIFB, it is the central government and the agencies concerned that were humiliated after conducting the raid. The public has witnessed many hospitals and schools that came up in the state with the help of KIIFB. Kerala will not allow any move to destroy the development in the state,” he said while addressing the election rally at Neyyattinkara here.

CM further said that the Congress and BJP have an unexplained unlikeness towards KIIFB.

“KIIFB is a product of the Assembly and was approved by Reserve Bank of India. Even then the Centre and UDF worked together to destroy it,” he added.

When the Income Tax department raided KIIFB, federal principles were violated. All the questions raised by the officials were answered and all documents were handed over earlier. Despite this, raid was conducted. Just because they have the power, they shouldn’t barge in anywhere. Power shouldn’t be misused. The officials raided KIIFB not as to their liking but as per the wishes of the union ministries controlling them, Pinaray Vijayan added.
