Pathanamthitta: Two persons were killed after a KSRTC bus rammed into a shop after knocking down a two wheeler near Perunthuruthi here. 18 others were also injured in the accident.

The accident took place around 4.15 pm on Friday. The bus driver lost control of the vehicle, which swerved left, knocked down a two wheeler in front and dragged it forward before ramming into the shop. The riders of the bike were killed.

The KSRTC bus was going from Changanassery to Thiruvalla. 14 of the injured were taken to a private hospital in Thiruvalla while 4 were taken to the taluk hospital.

A car and few two wheelers parked in front of the shop were destroyed in the accident.

The locals and fire and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operations. Following the mishap, the traffic on Kottayam – Thiruvalla route was blocked for 30 minutes.
