Customs behaved unseemly to Asst. Protocol Officer, alleges CM

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed the assembly that the Customs officials behaved indecently to Assistant Protocol Officer Harikrishnan. The chief secretary has forwarded a letter in this regard to the Centre. The government is particular about not repeating similar acts in future, the CM stated in response to the calling attention notice by Adv V Joy.

Assistant Protocol Officer Harikrishnan appeared for interrogation at Customs office on January 5. He had a very bad experience there. The officials threatened and directed him to give statement as per their instructions. The Customs acted in a way mentally torturing the officer.

Following this, Harikrishnan handed over a letter to the chief secretary explaining his experience. On the basis of this, the chief secretary forwarded the letter to the Centre. This is an attempt to damage the self-esteem of officers and no other staff should face such an experience, the state told the Centre.
