Wayanad landslide; Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today

THIRUVANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today to seek maximum assistance from the Centre in connection with the Wayanad landslide disaster. They will probably meet at 10.30 am in Delhi. The Chief Minister reached Delhi yesterday for this purpose.
Kerala had submitted a special petition on the instructions of the Prime Minister after the Prime Minister and the central expert team visited the disaster area. 2000 crores for rehabilitation and 1200 crores as compensation were requested. Chief Secretary Dr V Venu had visited Wayanad and submitted a supplementary report. The main demand of the state is that the Wayanad landslide should be declared as L-3 category national disaster. Today’s meeting is important as to whether the Wayanad landslide disaster will be treated sympathetically.
