‘Naatu Naatu’ song was shot in Ukraine President’s palace, got permission to shoot for this single reason, says Rajamouli

The superhit song ‘Naatu Naatu’ has created history by winning the Oscars for the best original song. S S Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ had music composed by M M Keeravani and penned by Chandra Bose. This is the third big award for Naatu Naatu after getting the Golden Globe and the Critics’ Choice Award.

The song ‘Naatu Naatu’, which gained global attention, was shot in the palace of the President of Ukraine in 2021. The palace is located in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. This historic building Mariinskyi Palace is the official residence of the President of Ukraine. Next to the palace is the Parliament of Ukraine.

Rajamouli had in an interview shared on how he got permission to shoot in the President’s palace. ‘Got permission to shoot there as the president of Ukraine was once a television actor. The most interesting thing is that after playing the role of a president in a television series, he actually became the president of Ukraine,’ he said. Naatu Naatu was shot before the Russia-Ukraine war. However, tourists are not allowed to enter the area now.
