Malayali of Kollam killed in missile attack in Israel, two other Keralites sustain injuries

JERUSALEM: A Malayali was killed and two others were injured when an anti-tank missile was fired in Israel. The dead has been identified as Patnibin Maxwell of Kollam. The other two injured are also Malayalees and have been identified as Bush Joseph George and Paul Melvin.

The missile hit a plantation in Margaliot. Lebanon is suspected to be behind the attack. The missile was fired at 11 am (local time) on Monday, said Israel spokesperson Zaki Heller.

The body of Patnibin is kept in Ziv Hospital. Bush Joseph George and Paul Melvin are undergoing treatment. George is admitted at Beilinson hospital in Petah Tikva. George who sustained injuries on his face and body was subjected to an emergency operation and is recovering well. Melvin is undergoing treatment in Ziv Hospital. He is a native of Idukki.

The attack is believed to have been carried out by the Shi’ite Hezbollah faction in Lebanon, which has been launching rockets, missiles, and drones at northern Israel daily since October 8 in support of Hamas amid the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
