Eminent jurist and senior Supreme Court advocate Fali S Nariman passes away at 95

NEW DELHI: Eminent jurist and senior Supreme Court advocate Fali S Nariman passed away Wednesday morning. He was 95. He died following a heart attack. He is known as a giant in the field of Indian justice. The country had honored him with Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhushan in 2007.Nariman started his practice as lawyer at the Bombay High Court. He had been a senior advocate of the Supreme Court since 1971. He had also served as the President of the Bar Association from 1991 to 2010. He was the Additional Solicitor General of India from 1972 to 1975 and resigned from the post to protest the decision of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to impose emergency. He was a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha.

He leaves behind his son and former Supreme Court judge Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman, daughter-in-law Sanaya and daughter Anaheeta. His wife Bapsi Nariman passed away in 2020.
