CPM to give back Forward Corporation; Decision comes after K B Ganesh Kumar spoke to Chief Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM has frozen the process of taking back the chairmanship of the Kerala State Welfare Corporation for forward communities given to the Kerala Congress (B). The action came after the Kerala Congress (B) raised displeasure.

The action was frozen after Kerala Congress (B) leader and MLA K B Ganesh Kumar spoke to the Chief Minister, CPM state secretary and LDF convener. The new order will be released soon. Ganesh Kumar told the media that the order was issued due to a technical error and that the chairman’s post was taken back.

Earlier CPM had taken back the chairmanship of the Kerala State Welfare Corporation for forward communities given to the Kerala Congress (B). Kerala Congress (B) state vice president K G Premjith was been removed and CPM nominee M Rajagopalan Nair was appointed as the new chairman. However, Premjith said that he was not aware of his removal and had not seen the order.

K B Ganesh Kumar was promised a ministerial berth as soon as the second Pinarayi government completes two and a half years. The tenure of the post was revoked at the end of its half term, in a situation where there was no decision as to whether this assurance would be fulfilled. It is indicated that the decision was taken without the consent of the Kerala Congress (B). When the Kerala Congress (B) joined the LDF, R Balakrishna Pillai was made the chairman of the Forward Corporation along with a cabinet rank.

CPM sympathizer Rajagopalan Nair was earlier Travancore Devaswom Board President and Devaswom Recruitment Board Chairman. He is also a senior lawyer.
