KOCHI: The presence of 14 pesticides was found in the cardamom used in aravana prasadam distributed in Sabarimala. The report submitted by the Food Safety Authority said the cardamom used in the aravana is not edible. In the report submitted by FSSAI to the high court, it is said that pesticides which cause serious diseases were found in the cardamom. The report contained the test results of the spices board lab in Kochi.
The cardamom was tested at the lab in Kochi as per the direction of the Kerala High Court. The high court will consider this report today. According to the instructions of the high court, the report by the food safety commissioner also said that the cardamom was not edible. The court took action on the plea filed by Ayyappa Spices regarding the distribution of cardamom. In the test conducted at a lab in the capital city as per the direction of the high court, pesticide was found in the cardamom.
