Kozhikode train fire case: ADGP confirms suspect Shahrukh Saifi’s arrest

Kannur: Additional director general of police (ADGP, law and order) MR Ajith Kumar, overseeing the probe into the Kozhikode train fire case confirmed the arrest of the suspect, Shahrukh Saifi. The person was nabbed in a combined operation by various investigative agencies, he noted.According to Kumar, further details like the reason for the arson attack and suspected involvement of others can be known after quizzing Saifi.

He elaborated on the prompt action taken by Kerala Police after the arson attack. He thanked the state government and agencies of other states and the union government for their cooperation and support.Meanwhile, according to reports, the man-missing case filed by the suspect’s family gave conclusive grounds for the officials to confirm his identity.

The suspect’s father stated that he was not aware of his son’s visit to Kerala. “If my son is guilty, he should receive the harshest punishment. We have no objection. We learned about the incident after police arrived at our house,” he said. According to the family, the person suffers from no mental illness.
