The peculiarity of the SilverLine project is that it facilitates travel from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod in just four hours. The same target can be achieved with less expense. There is no need for SilverLine if the number of flight services from Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram increased, said Sudhakaran. He urged the government to adopt the Town-to-Town model of KSRTC.

Sudhakaran recommended introducing a system of buying tickets directly from airports instead of pre-booking it. Flight services with an interval of at least an hour have to be deployed so that passengers would not be troubled even if they miss a flight. He also advised to avoid hiking ticket prices on the spot and ensure the same rate for a particular service.

KPCC president said that the only challenge in this project would be the travel to and from the airport. Passengers will have to opt for private cars or taxis to arrive at the airport and it may cost more than the flight charge. The journeys from the airport in the early morning may cause road accidents too, added Sudhakaran.

As a solution for this, Sudhakaran suggested adopting the model followed by Karnataka RTC. Buses of Karnataka RTC conduct services to the Bangalore International Airport from small towns on an hourly basis. Sudhakaran said that the authorities can deploy ‘Fly in Kerala’ Feeder Buses for carrying out services to the airports here.
