navigational chartDar-es-Salaam: India today handed over to Tanzania a navigational chart of the east African country’s Mkoani harbour which will be used by port authorities and ships for the navigation operation.

“Indian Hydrographic Survey Ship, ‘INS Sutlej’ had conducted a joint hydrographic survey of Mkoani harbour, Tanzania in early 2016,” Office of the Prime Minister of India tweeted.

It said the chart will be used by port authorities and ships in the harbour and nearby areas for the purpose of navigation.

Based on the joint survey, navigational charts for Mkoani harbor and the approach to the harbor have been prepared by National Hydrographic Office of India.

The chart was handed over to Tanzanian authorities during the joint press statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tanzanian President John Magufuli shortly after their bilateral meeting in which the two sides signed an agreement under which India will provide a Line of Credit of USD 92 million for rehabilitation and improvement of Zanzibar’s water supply system.
