Glowing tributes paid to martyrs of 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai

Mumbaikars today paid tribute to martyrs of the 26/11 attacks which occurred five years ago. Several memorial services are being held across the city to pay homage to the martyrs. Our correspondent adds that though it has been five years since the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, its memories are still fresh in the minds of Mumbaikars.

A memorial service was held in the Gymkhana today to pay homage to martyrs of the attacks. Floral tributes were paid to martyrs and victims of the attacks. Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan paid homage by laying a floral wreath at a 26/11 memorial erected in remembrance of the policemen, who lost their lives fighting terrorists during the terror strikes. The attacks, which drew widespread global criticism, began on 26th November 2008 and lasted till 29th November, claiming more than hundred lives and injuring several others.

Ajmal Amir Kasab, the only attacker out of the 10 attackers, who was captured alive was hanged on 21st November last year and buried at Yerwada Jail in Pune. However, masterminds of the carnage are yet to be brought to justice as Pakistan is still carrying out the 26/11 trial.
