Islamabad: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani ordered the lifting of ban on Twitter, after the micro-blogging site failed to remove blasphemous content against Islam. “The Prime Minister has ordered the IT Minister to restore Twitter service in Pakistan,” said Fiza Batool, daughter of Yousuf Raza Gilani in a message.

“Dear all, I assure (you) that Twitter and (Facebook) will continue in our country and it will not be blocked. (Please) do not believe in rumours,” said Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik.Earlier, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) blocked Twitter following a controversy over caricatures of Prophet Muhammad, which Muslims consider blasphemous.
